In our opinion what sets GEM Quality Homes apart from competitors is the outstanding customer service. Response time from Graham or Amanda regarding questions and issues was immediate. They were extremely open-minded and patient with the process of evolving the best design possible, and the resolution of project changes or problems was handled in a timely and professional manner. GEM’s skilled carpenters provided exemplary workmanship and leadership on the job site and all sub-trades completed quality work on schedule. Our project was not devoid of issues but they were all resolved to our satisfaction thanks to Graham’s attention to detail and focus on customer needs.
We can genuinely say that working with GEM Quality Homes was a pleasure. The process, the quality of workmanship and the effort to be cost conscious were greatly appreciated. In the final product we were able to retain the character and warmth of the old home while gaining great spaces and many features of a new home. It is a testament to excellent renovation work.
As many homeowners are, we were unfamiliar to the renovation process; we were grateful to have Graham there to guide us through the process and our trust was rewarded in a renovation project that turned our house into a home. Graham and his team were respectful of our needs as a young family (living in the home during the renovation) and made every effort to carry out the works with minimal disruption to our life. GEM was responsive to all our queries regardless how trivial; Graham understood they were important to us. Any changes in in project scope, either caused by us or through unforeseen circumstances, were addressed in a professional and honest manner.
Graham’s focus on detail was apparent right from the beginning. He wasn’t afraid to rework construction components that did not meet his standards. The elements that were added to our house have significantly improved the usability of the home to us and the project has exceeded our expectations.
We would have no hesitation in engaging GEM Quality Homes in our future building needs and have eagerly recommended him to many friends who were looking for dependable builder that puts quality and customer service in the forefront for all their projects.
That fall our daughter contacted the builder. When he arrived at the location, he said that he had always wondered who lived at this location and what kind of home was on the property. There were many consultations, and eventually the builder recommended an architect to draw up some plans to renovate the existing home. The main reason for needing renovations done, was the kitchen area was very small for the size of the home. About mid 2015 the contractor got all the permits in place and in October we moved out of the home as it was a total renovation, with new windows and doors, new gyproc and new flooring throughout. Also as the geothermal was not throughout the whole house, we needed the geothermal expanded to the bedrooms.
As there were beams in the living room area, the architect was asked to create a larger kitchen with beams and a sun room off the kitchen also with beams We wanted large patio doors on both sides of the sun room. Off the sun room was a patio with a step-down area also. The kitchen was to have only bottom cupboards with only a very small section between the fridge and wall ovens of upper cupboards. We wanted a fairly large island with an induction stove and down exhaust. We requested a large pantry and mud-room with laundry and cupboards.
Work progressed through the fall and winter of 2015 and into mid 2016. On approximately August 2016 we were able to move into our newly renovated home. The contractor and his crew were very professional and pleasant. Always very accommodating and courteous The fact that they got fresh muffins every once in a while, helped I am sure!
The home was completed ahead of schedule and best of all, below budget.!!!!
